The Gift of Love: One Woman’s Journey to Save a Life
by Amy Clipston is A Kidney Donation Story!

Here is a brief synopsis from GoodReads:

Their odds were 100,000 to one.

Her faith was 1 in a million.

In The Gift of Love, bestselling fiction author Amy Clipston shares her story of almost losing the love of her life to kidney disease and the ultimate sacrifice that kept their family together. An ordinary woman who cherishes family above all else, Amy was challenged in every way—from her strength of character to the depths of her faith to the close-knit family that surrounds her.

Enduring the good, the bad, and the really bad, she was determined to help her husband once again be the husband and father their family needed.

Amy’s story will give hope and encouragement to anyone who finds themselves waiting on God. Staring down adversity, Amy and her family received the most important gift of all, the gift of love. And regardless of your situation, this gift can be yours too.

An inspirational story of strength and determination, The Gift of Love is the triumph of one woman’s faith against all odds, and a soul-filling reminder that no matter how hard life gets, it is worth fighting for.

“I need to talk to Joe. I’ve been hit.”

Wow! Amy sure knows how to grab your attention! Just when I opened the book, thinking I’m going to begin reading about how she donated one of her kidneys so her husband could receive a donated kidney from another source, instead I’m drawn into her account of when she was in a car accident, involving not one, but two tractor trailers!

Whoa! Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place… Amy was caught between two tractor trailers.

It was a miracle that she left the hospital a few hours later, with no broken bones – only painful bruises and a few cuts and scrapes. Amy believes it was no coincidence; it was divine intervention. God was watching out for her… and her kidneys… so a few years later she could donate one of her kidneys and help to save her husband’s life.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to read this book. Amy goes back and describes how she grew up and how she met Joe, her husband, and his health issues.

It is an amazing story… the terrible moments they shared, the pain, the harsh realities, and when Joe experienced good health after the second transplant, the joys they shared as a family once again.

If you cannot buy this book, get a copy at your local public library, and read it. I finished it, praising God and thanking Him for answering their prayers.

And if you feel led… consider being a blood donor and/or an organ donor. I’m a registered organ donor (upon my death) and I’m surprised at people who don’t want to donate organs when they die. This is something you can do when you no longer need your organs, and they could make a huge difference in the lives of others.

… Amy, I’m praying with you, for Joe (and for your donor recipient) to continue experiencing good health – for their kidneys to last a good, long time (30 years sounds about right).

I was blessed to receive a free copy of this book in advance from the BookLook Blogger program
in exchange for an honest review.

This is an exceptional story and one you do NOT want to miss!
