A Plain Malice is the fourth book in An Appleseed Creek Mystery series by Amanda Flower.
Here is a brief synopsis from Goodreads:
“Flower has hit it out of the ballpark with this series and continues to amaze with her knowledge of the Amish way of life.”- 4 1/2 stars Top Pick RT Book Reviews about A Plain Disappearance
Appleseed Creek’s new bishop believes the best way to help his district in the struggling economy is to increase tourism. He invites Blue Suede Tours from Mississippi to visit the community and asks his district to host the southern visitors.
The Troyer family agrees to participate in the tour with an old-fashioned milking demonstration on the family’s dairy farm.
But when two Mississippians die during the milk taste test, the local police chief believes someone poisoned them, and Timothy Troyer’s father is her number suspect.
Computer whiz, Chloe Humphrey, jumps onto the tour bus as an undercover tour guide in order to prove her boyfriend’s father is innocent despite the Troyer family’s reservations about her and Timothy’s relationship.
If they solve crime, will Chloe and Timothy finally prove that they belong together or will the investigation be the final act to tear them apart?
Amanda Flower has done it again!
Since I’ve always considered this novel a gift to my readers, I have decided to donate all of my royalties for the novel that I earn through Thanksgiving Day to charity.
~~ quote from Amanda’s personal blog, 9/3/2014
This sequel has garnered quite a lot of attention… what does an author do when her book isn’t going to be published as planned?
Did a quirky turn of events slow down the author? Nope! Not for more than a hop and a jump…
That’s how long it took for Amanda Flower to decide that this book did need to be published – even if she had to publish it herself – which she did!
And even more spectacular, she is donating her royalties earned from book sales through Thanksgiving Day to charity!

The food pantry feeds over sixty families in the church’s neighborhood on $200 per week.
A Plain Malice takes us back to Knox County, where Chloe is knee-deep in murder again!
When an unlikely murder occurs on the Troyer farm, Chloe and Timothy jump right in the middle of it and investigate every possibility… readers of the Appleseed Creek Mystery series will love this sequel… there are twists, turns, unexpected news… and a surprise ending!
I have to admit… whenever I read this series, I’m always hoping that Deacon Sutter is behind the mischief (or murder); he is such a thorn in Chloe’s side… not to mention causing trouble for others (the Troyer family quickly comes to mind, not to mention Aaron, his own son). But alas, so far it’s just a whim. [**possible spoiler: Deacon Sutter may cause trouble, but so far hasn’t murdered anyone.]
