Until The Harvest | Sarah Loudin Thomas

Today I’m reviewing Until The Harvest, the second book in the Appalachian Blessings series by Sarah Loudin Thomas.

Here is a brief synopsis:

“Once in a while a new author… makes you sit up and take notice.” –“Library Journal”

When a family tragedy derails Henry Phillips’s college studies, he’s left unmoored and feeling abandoned. Although Henry tries to find escape in bad company, the only things that can tamp down his anger and grief are the family farm, his fiddle, and sweet but unusual pre-teen Mayfair Hoffman.

Unfortunately, Mayfair’s older sister, Margaret, with the freckles and cute, turned-up nose, has the opposite effect. Worse, she’s his grandmother’s housekeeper and helper, so she’s always around and ready to push his buttons. At first he thinks she doesn’t care about his loss, before beginning to understand she’s facing her own struggles.

Mayfair’s health and unique gift sit at the heart of those worries, and Henry and Margaret soon find themselves relying on each other as both Henry’s future and Mayfair’s life are put at risk.

Wow! Sarah Loudin Thomas is an amazing writer!

When I read Miracle in a Dry Summer, I thought it was full of life – which is messy at times – but Sarah has far surpassed my expectations with Until the Harvest.

Once again we are back in Wise, West Virginia… after Delilah’s niece Perla moves back, she marries and raises a family. Now Perla’s son is grown – and facing some pretty tough decisions!

Henry Phillips, son of Casewell and Perla, is doing what many young men do… making the wrong choices, for the wrong reasons, all the while knowing he’s getting in over his head. But does he listen to anyone trying to help? Nope.

No one can accuse Sarah of creating “perfect” characters… her characters are full of flaws – and full of themselves! They’re so realistic, the reader can easily compare them to someone they know. As a matter of fact, it’s hard sometimes to remember that these are just characters – not real people who Sarah is writing about.

With the perfect ending, this is definitely a series that you’ll want to read – again and again.

Full of inspiration and hope, Sarah’s Appalachian Blessings will speak to your heart. Don’t miss out on this series!
