Today I’m reviewing An Amish County Christmas, which includes special Christmas stories to follow Amanda Weds a Good Man (One Big Happy Family series) by Naomi King – and Winter of Wishes (Seasons Of The Heart series) by Charlotte Hubbard.
An Amish Country Christmas includes The Christmas Visitors by Naomi King — and Kissing the Bishop by Charlotte Hubbard. These 2 novellas create a wonderful bridge between the Cedar Creek and Willow Ridge communities.
Here is a brief synopsis:
In Willow Ridge, Missouri, the Christmas season is a time when faith brings peace, family brings warmth and new romance brings sparkling joy…
The Christmas Visitors
For spirited Martha Coblentz and her twin Mary, the snow has delivered the perfect holiday and birthday present to their door–handsome brothers Nate and Bram Kanagy. But when unforeseen trouble interrupts their season’s good cheer, it will take unexpected intervention–and sudden understanding–to give all four the blessing of a lifetime…
Kissing The Bishop
As the year’s first snow settles, Nazareth Hooley and her sister are given a heaven-sent chance to help newly widowed Tom Hostetler tend his home. But when her hope that she and Tom can build on the caring between them seems a dream forever out of reach, Nazareth discovers that faith and love can make any miracle possible…

Time for more confusion? Nah, I think you can figure it out easily this time. Keeping these book in chronological order, now it’s time for An Amish Country Christmas, which occurs just after the previous two books I reviewed.
Have I mentioned that Charlotte Hubbard/Naomi King is/are one of my most favorite Amish author(s)? If you haven’t heard me say so before, pay attention! What a cool idea it is to join together both Charlotte and Naomi’s series to create a couple of stories.
While I’m not one to believe in “love and first sight”, these stories are light-hearted and fanciful–and just plain fun (no pun intended). I will readily admit that the second story was really my favorite—and I don’t mind telling you why…
It’s simple… I am much closer to the age of Jerusalem and Nazareth (and the bishops–Tom and Vernon), so I found it much easier to identify with them—as well as enjoy the way these two couples enjoyed being together and doing some things they hadn’t done in many years.
And of course, I was intrigued by just the title—Kissing the Bishop! And I will be honest enough to say that I never—not even in my wildest dreams—pictured a bishop speaking of such romantic, intimate subjects. But Charlotte did her job well—making these bishops appear human—as human as anyone else in their community.
Of course, I can’t really say much without giving away anything, but that’s enough for now. If you’ve been following along with me this month, you know much has been happening in the Willow Ridge and Cedar Creek communities.
Keep reading with me… I’m headed back to the Seasons of the Heart series… and there I’ll stay until the end of the month. I even have a special treat for you near the end!
