The Gifting | K.E. Ganshert Marathon

Today I am reviewing The Gifting, the first book in The Gifting series by K.E. Ganshert.

Here is a brief synopsis:

“If science is right, then I am crazy. And crazy is dangerous.”

In a world where nothing supernatural exists, Tess Eckhart is positive she’s going crazy. After her complete freakout at a high school party, her parents worry she might be right.

So much that they pack their bags and move across the country, next to a nationally-renowned facility for the mentally ill.

Tess is determined to fit in at her new school, despite the whispers and stares. But when it comes to Luka Williams, a reluctantly popular boy in her class, she’s unused to a stare that intense.

Then the headaches start, and the seemingly prophetic dreams that haunt her at night. As Tess tries harder to hide them, she becomes increasingly convinced that Luka knows something—that he might somehow be responsible.

But what if she’s wrong? What if Luka Williams is the only thing separating her from a madness too terrifying to fathom?

MY THOUGHTS:

“What if he is the only thing separating her from a madness more terrifying than she can fathom?

The Gifting takes place in the not-too-distant future… how far in the future is anyone’s guess… but this future holds the premise that according to science, humans have no souls . . . and those who believe differently are crazy.

Poor Tess isn’t having an easy time… until she makes friends with Leela – and Luka.

I can tell you that this story is way different from anything I’ve read before. I can tell you it’s very intense – even frightening at times. And I can tell you that once you start reading it, you won’t want to stop… until you reach the end of book 3 (which is why I’m late posting my review – I just had to finish them all – and I plan to read them all again as soon as I have a couple of free days).

What I cannot tell you is… well, most everything else. If I say anything else, I could reveal too much. Let me just assure you, it’s worth your time. K.E. Ganshert did an awesome job creating this world and the characters are amazing… you’ll find those you love to love and the ones you love to hate.

**spoiler alert** If reading about Ouija boards and a séance isn’t something you want to do – even once – you might need to skip this series. I say “no” to both things, but I feel comfortable promoting the books. The author makes it clear that these things are not good – and they should be avoided at all cost.

Tess’ story is a good one.

Don’t stop with just this book. You need to read the whole series. The others are much easier to read. I had a hard time reading this one. Not because I didn’t like it. The darkness was hard to take. But the others went very quick for me. I couldn’t stop reading until I was done. Thoroughly enjoyed the concept and loved the warfare.

This series has drawn me in from your thoughts, Donna. Plus the synopsis. It’s definitely not my type of book to read. I will see how I feel when I start reading. I’m totally against reading or hearing anything about Ouija boards and séances. Glad to know you feel comfortable promoting the series though. Blessings!

If those things mentioned were promoted as good in any possible way, I would most definitely not be reading – or reviewing – them. But Ms. Ganshert’s story makes it perfectly clear that even having those things in your possession can cause dire consequences! This is the ONLY reason I feel good about promoting this series – because I believe in good and evil, and this series, although a bit fantastical at times, clearly shows evil as evil.

Thanks for sticking with me, Marilyn.

Definitely a different read for me too, but I do trust your judgement Donna! I know you’d never promote something that goes against the Lord’s Word (or Him, period). Thanks for the reviews on these books 🙂
