One Im’Perfect Christmas by Myra Johnson

Today I am reviewing One Imperfect Christmas by Myra Johnson.

Here’s a brief synopsis:

Only Love Makes a Christmas Perfect…

Graphic designer Natalie Pearce faces the most difficult Christmas of her life.

For almost a year, her mother has lain in a nursing home, the victim of a massive stroke, and Natalie blames herself for not being there when it happened.

Worse, she’s allowed the monstrous load of guilt to drive a wedge between her and everyone she loves—most of all her husband Daniel. Her marriage is on the verge of dissolving, her prayer life is suffering, and she’s one Christmas away from hitting rock bottom.

Junior-high basketball coach Daniel Pearce is at his wit’s end. Nothing he’s done has been able to break through the wall Natalie has erected between them. And their daughter Lissa’s adolescent rebellion isn’t helping matters. As Daniel’s hope reaches its lowest ebb, he wonders if this Christmas will spell the end of his marriage and the loss of everything he holds dear.

Once again, this is probably not a book I would have chosen to read just before Christmas… and once again, I would have missed out on a great book! I usually go for the Christmas romances that are all sweet and make you feel good all over. This is not what I felt reading One Imperfect Christmas! But oh my, what an inspiration it is, especially during the Christmas season.

The characters are true to form and totally believable. So many families would respond exactly the same. Ms. Johnson hit the nail on the head.

Although it isn’t easy to read about how the Pearce family responds when Natalie’s mom has a massive stroke, I found myself able to see both sides of the breakup. Dealing with serious illness too often causes more than one casualty.

Be forwarned… grab a box of tisses… you are going to need them.

Merry Christmas!

God Bless You!

Sounds like a “true life” story as so many face issues with illnesses. Thanks for the review.

We are certainly imperfect people so Christmas would be filled with U.S the imperfect ones. Whether by illness or other things our expectations are sometimes impossible to fulfill at Christmas time.

Thank you for the nice review of One Im’Perfect Christmas. Sad but so many feel they have an Imperfect Christmas, but really we have a perfect Christmas with Jesus as our Lord and Savior, knowing we are celebrating His birthday.
