Here is a brief synopsis:

FORCED TO FLEE . . .
WOUNDED . . .
ON THE RUN . . .

Not exactly a safe place for a former assassin and a prince with a price on his head.

In the dark streets of Auralius, Kayden and her prince struggle to find a way to set the country right again. But the Order of the MoonStone has a long reach and a strong grip.

Will the two of them be able to find a way to bring down Kayden’s former employers? Or will Kayden’s unusual charm help them to find an ally where there was none?

.

A Tragic Consequence by JC Morrows… will Kayden and Dvarius survive? What will happen to Drey? Don’t miss this action-packed sequel!  – Tweet this!

MY THOUGHTS:

I was NOT expecting so much new info!!!

It’s the perfect sequel . . . if you’ve been reading the Order of the MoonStone stories, I’m sure you’ll agree with me. But, after reading this book, I don’t know what could come next —  or if I even want to read the final book in the series.

Oh, who am I kidding? Of course, I’ll read the next book!

I’ll be on pins and needles until it comes out. I mean, what can JC Morrows add? What else could possibly happen?

WHAT!

I should have know when I bought JC’s book and she handed me a package of tisues . . . oh yeah, I should have known!

When Kayden and Dvarius enlist the help of another agent, things get really exciting! Kayden learns something about her past — something unexpected. But far too soon the newlyweds are on their way back to face the Order. What will happen? Will they win — or lose — the battle?

You know I can’t tell you – I truly can’t. This time I’m really glad I can’t tell. Grab a box of tissues and read it for yourself.

Happy Reading! JUST DO IT!

God Bless You!

If you’ve ever wondered what a “street team” is…

image
Nearly a year ago my daughter contacted Jennifer about a street team.

She had begun writing book reviewing and wondered why none of the companies she reviewed for offered Jennifer’s books.

It turned out that Jennifer did not have a street team at that point in time but she had been thinking of starting one up.

It did not surprise any of us when a couple of months later she started one — and offered my daughter a place on it — which she happily snatched up and begun reviewing the books we already had of Jennifer’s in preparation for her next release.

So, you may be asking, what is a “street team”?

We are Jennifer’s “on the street” advertising team. A big part of our duty consists of reading her latest books and writing reviews but there are other very important parts to it as well.

We are responsible for promoting Jennifer’s books in our everyday life as well as any posts written for the purpose of encouragement, support or promotion. We send requests out to our friends to “like” Jennifer’s author page on facebook… and we let our friends know when Jennifer’s books are available — and on sale.

Jennifer sends us promotional materials, which we happily pass out to friends, co-workers, bookstores, libraries and people we meet while shopping for books.

The funny part is, my daughter and I talked up Jennifer’s books long before we ever began reviewing or promoting for her. We love her books so it’s no hardship to talk about how awesome they really are!

This is a volunteer position; of course occasionally we get bonus sneak peeks into her stories and sometimes… an early look at what’s coming up for one of our favorite authors! If you love Jennifer’s books as much as we do, watch her website for news about her street team.

Most authors ask their street teams for a one-year commitment. If you have a favorite author, watch for news from them that they’re looking for new members for their street team.

God bless you!

Christmas at Pebble Creek | Vannetta Chapman Marathon

Today I am reviewing Christmas at Pebble Creek by Vanetta Chapman.

Here is a brief synopsis from Goodreads:

This free short story e-romance is an exclusive bonus from The Pebble Creek Amish Series by Vannetta Chapman.

Fans of the series will enjoy this chance to briefly revisit Pebble Creek, and new readers will be introduced to an Amish community that is more deeply explored in the three full novels, A Promise for Miriam, A Home for Lydia, and A Wedding for Julia.

As a bonus, this eBook also includes Amish homestyle recipes for chicken and dumplings, green beans, and fresh bread.

Heavy snow blankets the southwestern Wisconsin Amish community as nineteen-year-old Grace Miller closes the schoolhouse for Christmas break. She’s looking forward to having extra time to help the family prepare for the holiday, and she is hoping to get a few more drawings in of the beautiful, snowy Pebble Creek landscape.

Her courtship with Adam Lapp is going on six months, and Grace can’t wait to give him his present: a blue-and-brown buggy blanket she crocheted for him. Yes, this Christmas is going to be especially joyful.

Yet, amid the cheer of snowshoe outings, church potlucks, and holiday festivities, Grace is given a bittersweet reminder of the Christmas story. Grief is present with celebration, and though the future is rarely certain, she is given a heartwarming glimpse that God knows our needs before we do and will provide.

MY THOUGHTS:

Christmas at Pebble Creek is the last story in this series; we are blessed that this is another free short story available in digital format for Vannetta’s readers.

Ms. Chapman mentions on her blog today that after writing the three books, she loved the Pebble Creek stories and they did so well that Harvest House agreed to let her write two FREE short stories (one to introduce the series and one to wrap it up). You can read about this and more about Vanetta Chapman on her website… HERE

What a fine ending…

Vannetta does an excellent job ending the series. This short story begins with Grace, daughter to Gabe and Miriam, who is all grown up and in a courtship with Adam Lapp.

Christmas is coming… how will Grace and Adam celebrate? When they meet an Englisch lady who has been searching for Grace, what surprises will the future hold? Will Grace be tempted away from the Amish way of life? Will she leave Adam to pursue a career in the Englisch world?

Many new exciting events take place in this story, but rest assured everyone ends up having a Happy Christmas.

To quote Vannetta…

“It’s the Christmas story, isn’t it? And the ending is always one of grace.”

Read it – just read it. You’ll be blessed, just as I was blessed.

Home to Pebble Creek | Vannetta Chapman Marathon

Today I am reviewing Home to Pebble Creek by Vanetta Chapman.

Although it was published after the third book in the Pebble Creek Amish Series, it is a prequel to the first story – thus the reason I’m reading and reviewing it first!

Here is a brief synopsis from Goodreads:

Fans of the series will enjoy this chance to briefly revisit Pebble Creek, and new readers will be introduced to an Amish community that is more deeply explored in the three full novels, A Promise for Miriam, A Home for Lydia, and A Wedding for Julia.

When Joseph Bontrager left Pebble Creek, all of Esther Schrock’s dreams and hopes for the future went with him. Bravely picking up the pieces of her broken heart, she resumed her life teaching at the schoolhouse with Miriam King.

Now, nineteen months later, Joseph has returned. Despite her initial excitement, Esther feels anger rise up instead of love. Will she be able to forgive him for leaving? Forgive him for more than a year and a half of silence without a single letter?

With Miriam’s encouraging words, and despite ominous clouds on the horizon, will Esther be able to replace the bitterness in her heart with affection for Joseph once more?

MY THOUGHTS:

Should Esther give Joseph another chance…

Home to Pebble Creek is the perfect prequel to A Promise For Miriam! Although I have no idea why I have never read the Pebble Creek Amish Series, I feel blessed that I was able to read Home to Pebble Creek first…

It’s such a great introduction to the series!

I love the peek at the characters in this short story, preparing us for the three novels in the series. And the funny part it, I can’t talk about how the first novel begins, because I haven’t read it (no worry about spoilers, huh?).

But I can tell you that I’m excited about reading this series. Already I feel like I know them… I’m rooting for Esther and Joseph!

Now Miriam… well, I’m thinking Vannetta has plans for Miriam – which is why I’m ready to finish this review and begin reading A Promise For Miriam!

If you get the chance (what am I saying… just do it), download a free digital copy of Home to Pebble Creek. It’s not often that you get the chance to pick up a free copy of such a wonderful story… and there more good news…

Christmas at Pebble Creek comes after the third book in the series and is another free digital short story… if you’re reading the series, be sure to download your free digital copy of Christmas at Pebble Creek too!

A Gift of Grace (Kauffman Amish Bakery Series #1) | Amy Clipston Marathon

6052350

Today I am reviewing A Gift of Grace – the first novel in the Kauffman Amish Bakery series by Amy Clipston.

This is what Zondervan has to say about A Gift of Grace:

Take a trip to Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania, where you ll meet the women of the Kauffman Amish Bakery in Lancaster County.

As each woman s story unfolds, you will share in her heartaches, trials, joys, dreams and secrets. You ll discover how the simplicity of the Amish lifestyle can clash with the English way of life and the decisions and consequences that follow. Most importantly, you will be encouraged by the hope and faith of these women, and the importance they place on their families.

Rebecca Kauffman s tranquil Old Order Amish life is transformed when she suddenly has custody of her two teenage nieces after her “English” sister and brother-in-law are killed in an automobile accident. Instant motherhood, after years of unsuccessful attempts to conceive a child of her own, is both a joy and a heartache. Rebecca struggles to give the teenage girls the guidance they need as well as fulfill her duties to Daniel as an Amish wife.

Rebellious Jessica is resistant to Amish ways and constantly in trouble with the community. Younger sister Lindsay is caught in the middle, and the strain between Rebecca and Daniel mounts as Jessica’s rebellion escalates.

Instead of the beautiful family life she dreamed of creating for her nieces, Rebecca feels as if her world is being torn apart by two different cultures, leaving her to question her place in the Amish community, her marriage, and her faith in God.”

MY THOUGHTS:

I cannot imagine what it takes to write such a book as this… Amy Clipston has an amazing capacity for creating the perfect scenario!

It is perfect! A woman who left the Amish faith leaves instructions for her children to return to the family home if anything should happen to her.. and does Amy take the easy way out? Nope.

A Gift of Grace is a wonderful story about two sisters, forced to live with their Aunt and Uncle in an Amish community, after they lose their parents. One sister flourishes… the other perishes! Or at least she feels like she’s been banished to another century, where there’s no electricity, no phones, and no friends – only stupid rules!

I was caught up in the story almost from the beginning… about the time Jessica notices the not-so-pleasing smells coming from the farm.

What a nightmare.

The strange thing is – I live in an apartment with electricity, computers, phones, music, air conditioning and I have 2 vehicles to choose from whenever I want to go somewhere – why did I identify more with Lindsay, the slightly younger sister who felt at home on the farm and blossomed there. Why didn’t I feel more like Jessica, who missed all the technology – and freedom?

I’ll admit… when trouble brewed, I didn’t really feel sorry for Jessica – but I did want to smack a few people and say, “hey, what happened to showing a little love and compassion? –Stop making mountains out of mole hills!”

But God has a way of dealing with people, especially when they’re thinking too much of themselves, instead of showing His love to those who need it. Amy follows right along with these thoughts and although it took me by surprise, it certainly shakes up the community.

I love this book SO much, I’m willing to give away a copy! Let’s make this interesting… the first person named “Rachel” to add a comment below will get a free copy of this amazing book – with a free autographed bookplate by Amy – right off my bookshelf!
