Today I am reviewing Blueberry Cupcake Mystery… the first book in the Amish Sweet Shop Mystery series by Naomi Miller.

Here is a brief synopsis:

In the small town of Abbott Creek, mystery is as much a part of daily life as The Sweet Shop’s sugar cookies.

Katie Chupp spends her days at The Sweet Shop, taking care of customers and baking delicious treats . . . not exactly a profession where one expects to be thrown into the midst of mysteries and mayhem.

But when the bakery is broken into, someone has to find the thief . . . besides finding another place to do the baking and get the orders to the customers.

Is this a random theft, or is the thief trying to ruin the town’s Independence Day celebration?

MY THOUGHTS:

I’m doing something a bit out of the ordinary.

I want to let Naomi talk about why Blueberry Cupcake Mystery is a different sort of book…

My inspiration originally came from books written to make Amish young people look weak and easily manipulated, or worldly.

I was working on an Amish Suspense novel, when I felt God guiding me to write a series of books that show family, faith, forgiveness, and grace — instead of murder, mayhem, and danger — or worse, vampires, zombies, and demons.

I believe that Blueberry Cupcake Mystery accomplishes this task, and I think you’ll enjoy this story. It has has been compared to the Nancy Drew series, and it’s perfect for young readers, but I’ve heard from many readers — young and old — who enjoyed the story.

It’s somewhere between a short story and a novella, but I truly felt that it was complete, so it’s a quick, fun read.

I hope readers pick up this book (and any future books in the series) when they need something to distract them from sadness, worry, and doubt. I hope reading a light-hearted, fun cozy mystery, will inspire readers and leave them feeling happy and content.

My grandchildren were delighted to view the new Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional . . . it’s the perfect addition to our family library — and a perfect choice for my granddaughter to read from each evening before she hops into bed (like brother and sister bear).

As a Christian family, we have a special appreciation for Christian faith-based stories in the Living Lights series.

The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional shares many wonderful bedtime devotionals — 90 to be exact — enough for an entire season. We’ll be starting it for the winter season and we’re looking forward to our evening devotions, especially my granddaughter, who loves to read.

This is a great addition to your family library. Be sure to pick up a copy soon for your family . . . and get a few extra copies to give as Christmas gifts.

Today I am reviewing The Berenstain Bears and the Christmas Angel, a Living Lights faith-based story, by Mike Berenstain.

Here is a brief synopsis:

In the newest Berenstain Bears Living Lights book, The Berenstain Bears and the Christmas Angel, the cubs discover there’s more to angels than wings and flowing white robes!

It is almost Christmas and there is finally snow in Bear Country. Brother, Sister, and Honey Bear are ready for some winter fun! But when they can’t decide what kind of snowbear to build, Honey Bear’s snow angel gives the older cubs a great idea.

Soon the cubs have built a Christmas snow angel. Later, as they warm up with some hot cocoa, Mama and Papa give the cubs a little lesson about some very special angels and the work they do for God.

My family was thrilled to discover a new Christmas story to add to the other stories we have. Living Lights Berenstain Bear books are a way of introducing – and encouraging – good character qualities. And in today’s world, good character qualities are unfortunately not the norm.

As a Christian family, we have a special appreciation for Christian faith-based stories in the Living Lights series.

The Berenstain Bears and the Christmas Angel shares how God sent an angel to Mary, to give her the wonderful news that she had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus! He also sent angels to spread the good news to the shepherd in the fields — and to Joseph to warn him to flee to Egypt with Mary and Baby Jesus.

The story imparts some great news . . . that angels are sent to us to share good news, warn us of bad things coming, and for guidance and protection.

It’s the story we’ve all been waiting for!

JC Morrows confided that she planned to put this story in book four — but her fans begged her to share it in a short story — and here it is . . .

It released 3 weeks ago… and I’ve already read it 3 times! Yep, 3 times!

The first time was in May when I received an advanced copy…

The second time was the day after I posted an early look at the book on my blog — I just had to read it again. It’s SO GOOD! I’ve been waiting since last September for this story . . . and I was NOT disappointed in the least.

It was PERFECT!

I read it again last weekend, while on vacation, to savor the story, but also because I waiting oh-so-impatiently for the next book to come out. It’s due to be released on October 25th — I can’t believe I have more than 2 months to wait…

What an awesome story!

I loved meeting Shiara and Devron . . . plus a few other characters.

JC Morrows does a terrific job showing how the Queen met the King – before he became the King!

A Dangerous Love isn’t a continuation of the Order of the MoonStone series; it is actually a prequel to the series. This short story goes back to introduce the Queen, when she was a young girl, and how she met – and married – Devron, the future King of Auralius.

I’m certain others have also wondered about Shiara – and what her life was like before she became the Queen. In the previous books, we’ve only seen her as a grieving widow; now we get a look at the young girl…

This story is great! Even as a stand-alone, it’s interesting, exciting and enjoyable to read.

MY THOUGHTS:

21 Days of Love is a beautiful book, from cover to cover. Now, I don’t usually begin my reviews by complimenting the cover, but it’s perfect. Matter of fact, each of the book covers for this series are thoughtful and true to the subject covered within its’ pages.

Inside this book, you will find stories of love . . . stories that represent the many different types of love that we all experience, from the relationships we have with our parents and siblings, our spouse and our children, as well as friends, and even strangers.

But these aren’t stories to bring false hope, or present fairy tales; instead, they are written to encourage us as we go through rough times. The very first story describes how an accident changes a young girl’s life — and her future. Left with feelings of hopelessness, she discovers that God has another path for her life, if she’ll only trust Him with her future.

Each story in this devotional is encouraging, uplifting, and heart-warming. I was continually reminded of God’s love for me. And that He is always waiting for me, even when I’ve drifted away at times. His love for me is an everlasting love, full of promise.

If you haven’t read 21 Days of Love, or one of the companion books in this series, I encourage you to read it.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!

Poor Rebecca . . . after adoring her friend’s brother from afar, now she’s attending his wedding — to another woman. Oh well, we all have our fantasies — and more often than not, they get dashed.

In the meantime, the man in question, Noel Kenzie, marries his true love — Claire Halford. Will they live happily ever after? While I’m sure they’ll have their share of problems, I think they have a better than average chance of making it work.

MY THOUGHTS:

A Perilous Assignment is a wonderful introduction to the Order of the MoonStone series . . . and the story we all waited for — A Reluctant Assassin.

In this short story, we get just a glimpse into the Order — and when Kayden, a young 17-year-old recruit, is chosen for an assignment (if you’re following this series, you already know where Kayden is headed).

When I say a glimpse . . . well, that’s exactly what I mean. There’s only one chapter, but WOW! It’s an amazing chapter! Full of suspense and intrigue — I was nervous just reading it (thankfully after just a few sentences, I was firmly involved in the story).

JC Morrows is a talented writer — you can tell by this short story.

In this introduction, she focuses almost entirely on Kayden, and what is happening around her at the moment. Without any distractions, the reader gets a perfect picture of the seriousness of this assignment.

I can’t wait to read Kayden’s story — in A Reluctant Assassin. Stay with me . . . it’s coming soon.
