the Meek | Amos Wyse, Laura J Marshall

Today I am reviewing the Meek, a new Amish Romantic Suspense novel by Amos Wyse & Laura J Marshall.

Here is a brief synopsis:

For the English, it was the end of the world as they knew it. For the Amish, it was Tuesday.

Jedediah Wenger lost his family to an Englishe drunk driver. He has yet to put his life back together including the long-forgotten courting of the Bishop’s daughter, Felicity Troyer. When he’s suddenly faced with the task of helping the fading mid-western town of Prosperity survive, he realizes the task is greater than the town or the District can overcome.

Hearing about Prosperity through a ragtag ham radio, the remnants of the Government sends U.S. Cavalry Captain Jimmy Flanagan to protect the town which has evolved into a symbol of hope for all of America. His nagging concerns about his family in Nebraska keep him restless where he would otherwise find contentment.

MY THOUGHTS:

As I’ve previously said, I am a huge fan of Amos Wyse & Laura J Marshall… who have a new Amish Romantic Suspense out — and it’s truly amazing!

Jedidiah Wenger is an awesome young man who, after losing his parents and siblings, hires three couples to help him with the harvest and the canning of food he’ll need to get through the winter. He has no idea early one morning when he sees the sky light up with flashes of what he believes to be lightning, that the English world is forever changed.

The sheriff in town confirms reports of power outages all across the country, causing widespread panic, looting, and rioting everywhere. Most of the people in the community are happy to work with the Amish and Mennonite families, because daily life for them is the same…

I love how the authors did such thorough research that I found myself deeply involved in the story. The characters are realistic, the action is more than enough to hold your interest and the ending… well, you’ll see (if you read it).

There’s so much more I could tell you, but I’d really rather encourage you to read the Meek for yourself. If you enjoy Amish suspense novels, you’ll love this new story by these amazing authors!

Happy Reading!

God Bless You!

The Gift | Shelley Shepard Gray

Today I am reviewing The Gift, the third book in The Amish of Hart County series by Shelley Shepard Gray.

Here is a brief synopsis:

The Schwartz family is happy to be spending Christmas on their new farm in Hart County. But when Susanna Schwartz hears gunshots that causes her buggy to overturn, and then her little sister falls through a wooden bridge into the icy creek, it becomes clear from these dangerous “accidents” that someone wants them gone.

Neil Vance has been heartbroken ever since his parents lost their family farm. He knows it’s not the Schwartz family’s fault, but he can’t help but be resentful. Until he meets Susanna. She is kind-hearted and bold, and Neil can’t stop thinking about her pretty green eyes.

Neil thinks the accidents are just that, but Susanna’s father is convinced the Vance family is responsible. Susanna refuses to believe Neil would do anything to harm her. She’s fallen in love with him and knows he is a good man. But her family is ready to pack up and move, and time is running out to uncover the truth before someone gets hurt…or worse.

MY THOUGHTS:

As long as Shelley keeps writing Amish fiction, I’ll keep reading it… because I have LOVED each and every one of her books!

I can only imagine how difficult it would be to move to a new home just before Christmas. A place where you don’t know anyone and everyone seems unfriendly. Neil Vance knows Susanna Schwartz and her family are not responsible for his family losing their farm. And the accidents. . . well, he thought they were truly accidents. Obviously, I lost myself in the story, but will I find my way back out? Join me and spend Christmas with the families in Hart County.

Shelley truly does give us a story full of love and blessings–one we’ll cherish at Christmas time.

Whatever you do, don’t miss out on this wonderful story.

Blessings!

Her Secret | Shelley Shepard Gray

Today I am reviewing Her Secret, the first book in The Amish of Hart County series by Shelley Shepard Gray.

Here is a brief synopsis:

A suspenseful tale of a young Amish woman who is forced to move to a new town to escape a threatening stalker

After a stalker went too far, Hannah Hilty and her family had no choice but to leave the bustling Amish community where she grew up. Now she’s getting a fresh start in Hart County, Kentucky…if only she wasn’t too scared to take it.

Hannah has become afraid to trust anyone—even Isaac, the friendly Amish man who lives next door. She wonders if she’ll ever return to the trusting, easy-going woman she once was.

For Isaac Troyer, the beautiful girl he teasingly called “The Recluse” confuses him like no other. When he learns of her past, he knows he’s misjudged her. However, he also understands the importance of being grateful for God’s gifts, and wonders if they will ever have anything in common. But as Hannah and Isaac slowly grow closer, they realize that there’s always more to someone than meets the eye.

Just as Hannah is finally settling into her new life, and perhaps finding a new love, more secrets are revealed and tragedy strikes. Now Hannah must decide if she should run again or dare to fight for the future she has found in Hart County.

MY THOUGHTS:

Oh my!  This is a very good beginning to The Amish of Hart County series…

I was a bit trepidatious, given the story plot, but as I have always enjoyed Ms. Gray’s Amish fiction stories, I felt certain I would enjoy this one, too.

Once I began reading, I did not put down the book until I finished it!

I was in the store with Hannah when she opened the brown envelope… I moved from Ohio to Kentucky with her… I walked through the woods with her… and I stayed with her until the very end.

Hannah Hilty and Isaac Troyer are definitely two of my favorite new characters. Isaac is prone to not rush into things, but he is quick to step up and take responsibility — and action — when needed. That Hannah and Isaac took their time getting to know one another, instead of rushing into a relationship, made the story much more realistic to me.

If you enjoy reading Amish fiction by Ms. Gray, I’m thrilled to recommend Her Secret  for your bookshelf. Get your copy today — and immerse yourself in what’s happening in Hart County.

God bless you!

Dangerous Testimony | Dana Mentink

Today I am reviewing  Dangerous Testimony, the fourth book in the Pacific Coast Private Eyes series by Dana Mentink.

Here is a brief synopsis:

LAST WITNESS STANDING

Four weeks before she’s set to testify at a gang murder trial, someone is determined to make sure that Candace Gallagher Andrews never takes the stand.

But while Marco begins seeing Candace as more than just a friend, her late husband’s memory is never far from her mind.

So he must keep Candace alive—and not get emotionally involved—long enough to put away a killer.

MY THOUGHTS:

Candace Gallagher Andrews is shocked when she witnesses a murder…

Whew… exciting stories!

In this fourth book of the series, tension mounts as Jay Rico convinces Candace that her entire family is in danger unless she does exactly as he says. . .  and she’s determined to protect her family. I’d love to say more, but I’m afraid if I do, I’ll give too much away! Get this book! Read it! Today!

Dana Mentink creates complex, interesting characters – and if you haven’t read the other stories in this series, let me encourage you to do so… you can read just one – or all four in sequence – but just do it!

Happy Reading!

God bless you!

All Is Calm, All Is Bright | Colleen Coble

Today I am reviewing All Is Calm, All Is Bright, two Christmas novellas by Colleen Coble

Here is a brief synopsis:

All Is Calm

Brendan Waddell needs a place to recuperate. Lauren Everman needs a place to hide. It’s going to be an unexpectedly romantic Christmas at Bluebird Ranch.

Brendan Waddell has always considered Bluebird Ranch a little piece of heaven: an idyllic ranch that pairs abused children with abused horses, run by one of his old Marine buddies. Now, recovering from an on-the-job injury, Brendan thinks the ranch is the perfect place to spend Christmas healing up.

When Lauren Everman was a seventeen-year-old foster kid, Bluebird Ranch was the safest place she knew. Now it’s the perfect hideout for a woman on the run. As the witness to a murder, Lauren needs somewhere to lie low, and her skill with horses means she’ll be able to lend a hand with the troubled kids at Bluebird—without answering too many questions.

Lauren’s rich hair, high cheekbones, and dark eyes immediately get Brendan’s attention—but so does her secretive behavior. This Special Ops Intel man knows a woman on the run when he sees one, and he’s not about to let her put Bluebird Ranch at risk.

But as Brendan and Lauren get to know each other, their suspicions evaporate and romance starts to sizzle. But this would-be couple has more to worry about than each other—there’s a killer on the loose who wants Lauren kept quiet.

All Is Bright

A romantic, Christmas wedding at her seaside hotel gives Delilah a chance to shine with her unique gifts. But will her light be snuffed out before the bride and groom say “I do”?

As manager of the Tidewater Inn, Delilah Carter has been planning a spectacular Christmas wedding for her friends at the grand hotel overlooking the ocean. While picking up still more twinkly lights and some last-minute groceries for the reception dinner, a huge truck runs her off the freezing, wet roads into the dark night. Her car stops just short of an enormous tree and the truck speeds off into the night.

Delilah escapes with her life and has almost convinced herself the whole thing was an accident, but then she begins to receive threatening phone calls. With the wedding just hours away, she’s distracted and anxious. Then Sheriff Tom Bourne stops by the inn and volunteers to help.

Tom has always had a soft spot for Delilah, and he’s determined to protect her. But he is pulled away by a bizarre Christmas stunt that has the neighborhood reeling, and Delilah is attacked again.

Will Delilah have to cancel the Christmas wedding at Tidewater Inn? And will Tom’s protection be enough to save Delilah from the shadowy figure looming in the background?

MY THOUGHTS:

These stories are great! Well-written, with interesting characters and plot, the only problem I had was not being able to stop reading – until I finished not just one of the stories, but the entire book!

Never having read anything by Colleen, I didn’t know what to expect, but I had high expectations — and I wasn’t disappointed in the least. Now I’m ready to begin a Colleen Coble collection of my own!

I was expecting  an historical setting, not suspense and mystery . . . and I was pleasantly surprised by both, in two entertaining, suspenseful stories. Although the titles say “Christmas” to me, it wasn’t the main focus, so these stories can be read – and enjoyed – anytime.

If one of your favorite genres is suspense/mystery, without the gore, you will love reading All Is Calm, All Is Bright.

Merry Christmas!

Blessings!
