Life After E.L.E. | JC Morrows

Today I am reviewing Life After E.L.E., the 1st novel in The Frozen World series, by JC Morrows.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Extinction Level Event (E.L.E.): An event where all species on the planet can become extinct.

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Rule#1: Be inside the gates before sunset.

Eve was born inside the caves. She was taught that rule – and many others – before she could walk. It should be the easiest thing in the world for her to remember.

But life is not always simple.

Life does not always go as planned . . .

When a rogue moon was discovered on a collision course with the Earth, we thought we had a solid plan.

We were wrong. And we were lied to.

Now Eve is in a race against time, discovery and danger around every corner – to find a truth that has been hidden for more than ten years.

A truth her father died to protect her from.

Life After E.L.E. by JC Morrows . . . Will Eve survive? What will happen to those being hunted? Don’t miss this action-packed story!  – Tweet this!

MY THOUGHTS:
Life After E.L.E. is an amazing story!

Honestly, after watching post-apocalyptic movies like Divergent, Hunger Games, and 2012, I can’t wait to see this series on the big screen!

A rogue moon hits the earth, causing an ice age . . . Morrows does a superb job of creating life in the caves for those who survived. It is especially interesting to read about the many rules they live by. I haven’t decided which would be worse – being hunted by a saber-toothed tiger or locked out of the city by the evil chancellor! I think I’d take my chances with the tiger.

I was delighted to see the progression of Eve’s first love. While it didn’t go nearly as far as the scenes in the above-mentioned series, there are a couple of kisses, but that’s to be expected in real life. Morrows gives the characters a true-to-life relationship, howbeit with an unexpected ending.

I am delighted to share that book two will be released soon! I can’t wait to read the next part of this exciting saga. And yes, I was an early reader, so come back on Wednesday to read my review!

Happy Reading!

God Bless You!

A Broken Kingdom | JC Morrows

The sequel we’ve all been waiting for…
Today I am reviewing A Broken Kingdom, the 5th–and FINAL–novel in the Order of the MoonStone series, by the awesome JC Morrows.

Here is a brief synopsis:

A Reluctant Assassin…
Made A Treacherous Decision…
Which led to A Desperate Escape.

Now A Tragic Consequence…
Leads to A Broken Kingdom.

When she fell in love with her target, Kayden realized she could not fulfill her mission.

And, no one could have predicted that her decision to share the truth with Prince Dvarius would lead them to the alter — much less to tragedy…

MY THOUGHTS:

Wow! I was NOT expecting so much! So many twists and turns! So many surprises!!!

It really is the perfect sequel to the series! If you’ve been reading the Order of the MoonStone stories, I’m sure you’ll agree with me.

JC Morrows is an amazing author/storyteller. I don’t normally like cliff-hangers. Most likely, not many readers do. But once I had read A Reluctant Assassin, I was hooked. I had to keep reading each sequel–and each sequel ended abruptly, making me squirm until the next story was available.

The last story ended on another cliff-hanger! A heart-wrenching ending. This story begins with Kayden… lost, alone, struggling to live up to Dvarius’ expectations. But the love of her life is gone.

And that’s all I’ll say.

Honestly, I can’t say much about this story without giving away something. It seemed like each chapter brought new surprises! Unexpected twists and turns around each corner!

So while I can say the characters are appealing, colorful, and inventive… with grab-your-attention-and-won’t-let-go action from the beginning to the end, I can’t say much else, except…

READ. THE. BOOKS.

All of them.

Do yourself a favor and get the whole series–five novels and five short stories–and read them in order. It doesn’t matter if you choose paperback or digital copies, just read them.

And hey, while you’re at it, if you enjoy them, please take a minute and write a review on Amazon. A sentence or two will do–even a few thoughtful words is enough. It’s a wonderful way to let the author know you like her books–and it’s a great way to let other readers know that these are books worth reading.

Until next time…

Happy Reading!

A Tragic Consequence | JC Morrows

A Tragic Consequence
Today I am reviewing A Tragic Consequence, the 4th novel in the Order of the MoonStone series, by JC Morrows.

Here is a brief synopsis:

FORCED TO FLEE . . .
WOUNDED . . .
ON THE RUN . . .

Not exactly a safe place for a former assassin and a prince with a price on his head.

In the dark streets of Auralius, Kayden and her prince struggle to find a way to set the country right again. But the Order of the MoonStone has a long reach and a strong grip.

Will the two of them be able to find a way to bring down Kayden’s former employers? Or will Kayden’s unusual charm help them to find an ally where there was none?

.

A Tragic Consequence by JC Morrows… will Kayden and Dvarius survive? What will happen to Drey? Don’t miss this action-packed sequel!  – Tweet this!

MY THOUGHTS:

I was NOT expecting so much new info!!!

It’s the perfect sequel . . . if you’ve been reading the Order of the MoonStone stories, I’m sure you’ll agree with me. But, after reading this book, I don’t know what could come next —  or if I even want to read the final book in the series.

Oh, who am I kidding? Of course, I’ll read the next book!

I’ll be on pins and needles until it comes out. I mean, what can JC Morrows add? What else could possibly happen?

WHAT!

I should have know when I bought JC’s book and she handed me a package of tisues . . . oh yeah, I should have known!

When Kayden and Dvarius enlist the help of another agent, things get really exciting! Kayden learns something about her past — something unexpected. But far too soon the newlyweds are on their way back to face the Order. What will happen? Will they win — or lose — the battle?

You know I can’t tell you – I truly can’t. This time I’m really glad I can’t tell. Grab a box of tissues and read it for yourself.

Happy Reading! JUST DO IT!

A Desperate Escape | JC Morrows

Today I am reviewing A Desperate Escape, the 3rd novel in the Order of the MoonStone series, by JC Morrows.

Here is a brief synopsis:

A Secret . . . A Confession . . . A Decision . . . that will change the lives of an entire country.

The palace is scrambling to recover from a brutal assault . . . the country is in disarray . . . and the royal security team is on edge like never before.

Kayden entered the palace under a lie . . . a lie that has now been exposed.

And now . . .

Prince Dvarius has to decide what to do with his reluctant assassin.

A Desperate Escape by JC Morrows… will Kayden make it out alive? Don’t miss this action-packed sequel!  – Tweet this!

MY THOUGHTS:

It’s stupendous! It’s everything I’ve been waiting to read in this series… now the action comes alive!

What can I say! Kayden continues to steal the show!

But this time Dvarius gets in on the action, too.

When Kayden tells him she was sent to kill him, what will he do? I wish I could tell you more… about what happens when the palace is attacked from the outside . . . and other operatives are found in the palace… and what happens to Dvarius – and his reluctant assassin . . .

But I can’t – I truly can’t. You’ll have to read it for yourself – and the sooner, the better. The only other thing I can suggest is for you to read the entire series, if you haven’t already done so.

This is a great series, comparable to The Selection series and The Lunar Chronicles!

I read on MuggleNet that it may be the next fanfiction!!!

Don’t miss it…

Happy Reading!

JC Morrows’ Reluctant Assassin series may be the newest FANFIC for 2016! Don’t miss it!Tweet this!

A Treacherous Decision | JC Morrows Marathon

I am reviewing A Treacherous Decision, the second book in the Order of the MoonStone series by JC Morrows.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Kayden’s mission should have been simple – she was sent to kill the prince . . . not to fall in love with him.

Within the palace walls, Kayden has discovered that things are not as she expected.

Is there more to the royal family, or . . . is there a more sinister depth to Drey’s mission?

Dvarius thought his mind was made up – but will he have the resolve to see it through?

Between attacks from outside the palace – and within, will the Prince live long enough to choose his Queen?

And will Kayden choose to follow her head . . . or her heart, knowing that her decision could very well make her a target as well!

A Treacherous Decision… book 2 in the Order of the MoonStone series by JC Morrows – Tweet this!

MY THOUGHTS:

JC Morrows is an amazing writer!

I was drawn into this story immediately — Kayden lying on a hospital bed, with Dvarius sitting beside her, not knowing if she would recover. Oh, my goodness!

I felt as if I were in the room with them — and I didn’t stop reading until the end. Actually, I was perched on the edge of my chair — unable to sit still, at least through the first few chapters.

I was thrilled to learn that book two picks up where book one ended — with Kayden getting stabbed!

I read somewhere that it isn’t good form to end a book on a cliffhanger, but I remember all my favorite television shows ending on a cliffhanger; good grief — some of them ended the season that way!

Does anyone else remember watching Dallas, when JR was shot?

I don’t mind a cliffhanger. For me, it adds thrill and intrigue to the story . . . and makes me eager to read the next book in the series. There are lots of secrets in books one and two that haven’t been revealed, but that just makes it more exciting to read.

Will Kayden survive? Will she be the new Princess/Queen? Who else is in the castle, intent upon killing the Prince — or was Kayden the intended victim? I can’t say . . . I really can’t.

If you enjoy YA fantasy, suspense, intrigue, and romance — whatever you do, don’t miss this series!

Happy Reading!

A Reluctant Assassin | JC Morrows Marathon

I am reviewing A Reluctant Assassin… the first book in the Order of the MoonStone series by JC Morrows.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Her mission was simple — get close to the Prince, and kill him…

Kayden entered the palace under a lie, one designed to get her close to the Prince. On the outside, she may look like a princess but beneath the mask, a killer lays in wait — for the perfect moment.

Dvarius was not ready to take the crown, nor was he ready for a wife…

But due to his father’s unexpected death and an archaic law — he must find a bride before he is allowed to take his rightful place on the throne.

And the one woman he wants — just might be the one who is there to kill him…

A RELUCTANT ASSASSIN by JC Morrows… don’t miss this exciting new series! – Tweet this!

MY THOUGHTS:

W.O.W.

A Reluctant Assassin is oh-so-wonderful…

It’s the typical “Prince Charming will choose his bride at the ball” story – except for a teensy, tiny twist. One of the ladies at the ball was sent to kill… eliminate… assassinate… the Prince. As the author puts it so eloquently —

“What if Cinderella had been sent to kill the Prince?”

Oh. My. Gosh.

I have always loved the Cinderella stories… one of my favorite movies is Ever After – to me it’s the most realistic Cinderella story ever told. And I have books – lots of books – with princes, princesses, kings and queens. But this is the first book I’ve owned with a prince – and an assassin!

Without making the story a thousand pages, JC Morrows gives the reader enough back-story to stay interesting – just a few hints – while creating intriguing, bigger-than-life characters, who keep the reader – well, reading. And she throws in a plot guaranteed to keep anyone on their toes.

JC purposely leaves out information, such as why Kayden is an assassin… and why there seem to be others whose goal is to kill the Prince. If her intent is to make me eager to read the next story in the series – it’s working!

I’m beginning to feel sorry for the Prince. What has he ever done to deserve this? He hasn’t even begun to rule, and from the looks of things, he may never be crowned.

And… that’s enough to share for now. If your interest is piqued, get the book.

JC Morrows is a talented storyteller – you can tell by the success of A Reluctant Assassin. Although she previously released a short story in this series, Morrow’s success has been tremendous! The day after it released, A Reluctant Assassin reached the #1 spot on Amazon (YA action/adventure) – and it stayed the #1 choice (for hot new YA action/adventure releases) since its’ debut almost 30 days ago.

This story was SO MUCH more than I expected — and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Don’t wait another minute to read this story!

Happy Reading!

Unblemished | Sara Ella

Today I am reviewing Unblemished by Sara Ella.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Eliyana has always recoiled from her own reflection in the mirror. But what if that were only one Reflection—one world? What if another world existed where her blemish could become her strength?

Eliyana is used to the shadows. With a hideous birthmark covering half her face, she just hopes to graduate high school unscathed. That is, until Joshua hops a fence and changes her perspective. No one, aside from her mother, has ever treated her as normal. Maybe even beautiful.

Because of Joshua, Eliyana finally begins to believe she could be loved. But one night her mother doesn’t come home, and that’s when everything gets weird. Now Joshua is her new, and rather reluctant, legal Guardian. Add a hooded stalker and a Central Park battle to the mix and you’ve gone from weird to otherworldly.

Eliyana soon finds herself in a world much larger and more complicated than she’s ever known. A world enslaved by a powerful and vile man. And Eliyana holds the answer to defeating him. How can an ordinary girl, a blemished girl, become a savior when she can’t even save herself?

MY THOUGHTS:

I love the cover on this book . . . and I couldn’t wait to read it. Unblemished was described as an inspirational novel, and even as a Christian fiction novel, so I dove into it with high expectations.

Uh. . . no.

I can’t honestly recommend this book to my readers. I have nothing against fairy tales, which this story emulates, or kissing, which this story has plenty of… but I feel the story is far from Christian fiction (or inspirational). We all have our own idea of when the lines we set get crossed . . . and this story crossed too many lines for me.

But the hardest thing to swallow?

How can an ordinary girl, a blemished girl, become a savior when she can’t even save herself?

Yes, I admit, I am offended by a young girl who is obviously immature and sees herself as a savior. And I’m sorry, but I thought the writing wasn’t quite up to par. I expected much more. . .

That being said, if you read it, and enjoy it, that ‘s fine.

I’ll be back soon with another review; hopefully, one more positive than this one.

In the meantime, happy reading.

God bless you!
