An Amish Year | Beth Wiseman

Today I am reviewing An Amish Year, consisting of four novellas by bestselling author Beth Wiseman.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Spend a year in Amish country with four sweet romances.

Rooted in Love

Rosemary Lantz is doing her best to run her family’s household. She excels at all her tasks except one: gardening. Saul Petersheim has pursued Rosemary for years, but Rosemary keeps turning him down. What Saul doesn’t know is that she has good reason—something no one can know—especially not him.

A Love for Irma Rose

The year is 1957, and young Irma Rose has a choice to make. Date the man who is “right” for her? Or give Jonas a chance, the wild and reckless suitor who refuses to take no for an answer?  Irma Rose steps onto the path she believes God has planned for her, but when she loses her footing, she is forced to rethink her choice.

Patchwork Perfect

Eli Byler has been a widower for two years when he chooses to make a fresh start in Paradise, Pennsylvania. As Eli juggles the admiration of two women, he meets Miriam Fisher—the most unconventional Amish woman he’s ever met. She doesn’t fit the mold for what Eli is looking for, but it isn’t long before Eli realizes that Miriam is everything he wants. But Miriam has no plans to get married—ever.  Will Eli be able to change her mind?

When Christmas Comes Again

Katherine knows the first Christmas without Elias will be hard for her and the children. But when a mysterious Englischer appears with photographs of her late husband, Katherine begins to wonder what other blessings Christmas could have in store.

AN AMISH YEAR . . . 4 heart-warming stories by Beth Wiseman. Tweet this!

MY THOUGHTS:

I don’t think I’ve met a Beth Wiseman book that I haven’t loved… and this one is no exception.

Beth draws your attention at the start, and if you’re like me, you won’t stop reading until you’ve reached the end. She writes wonderful Amish fiction novels – and her novellas are just as memorable. Don’t miss out on these special stories – one written for each season.

Rooted in Love

This story was previously published in An Amish Garden, and is about Rosemary Lantz and Saul Petersheim . . . what is Rosemary’s secret? Why did she break up with Saul? Do they have a future together? I can’t tell you – read the book to find out the answers.

A Love for Irma Rose

In this story, Irma Rose Kauffman is courted by two fellows . . . which one will she choose? One fellow seems perfect for her, yet the other one refuses to give up! Irma Rose wants to follow God’s will for her, but is the best man really the best man for her? Hmm. I know who is the best man – do you?

Patchwork Perfect

This story is about Eli Byler, a widower, who moves to Paradise, Pennsylvania, to find a wife and mother for his children. In Paradise, he is admired by more than one Amish woman. However, the one who catches his eye – isn’t even looking for a husband.

Miriam Fisher caught my attention – and my blessing – from the start! Can Eli change her mind? Will she stay single – or become a wife and mother? Oh, this is such a great story; I can’t wait for you to read it!

When Christmas Comes Again

This story was previously published in An Amish Second Christmas, and is a sweet holiday story with the happily-ever-after ending readers love! This story reminds us to never give up on those we love…

Katherine is concerned when she notices a strange man showing up whenever she’s in town, but it’s not long before a package is left on her porch for her – from him. Who is this strange man? Why does he seem familiar to Katherine and her family? Please read this story to find out…

Let me make something clear – this is one of the BEST Christmas stories I have read!

So . . . don’t miss this awesome book!

Happy Reading!!!

Blessings!

An Amish Second Christmas . . . check out these 4 heartwarming stories!Tweet this!

MY THOUGHTS:

WOW!… I don’t think I can do these authors justice… they’re truly amazing!

Celebrate an Amish Second Christmas… this is a treasured, lighthearted time of community, with four Amish romances!

Each story in this book is a wonderful look at how the Amish celebrate Christmas… and even more important, how they celebrate Second Christmas.

Beth Wiseman wrote a very different kind of story than I was expecting; although unexpected, it was intriguing and entertaining and definitely worth your time!

Kathleen Fuller wrote a wonderful story about love and how we should deal with the boundaries – a very pertinent subject matter.

Tricia Goyer wrote another wonderful story of the Kootenai Amish; I have read (and I own) her others; I’ve enjoyed them thoroughly and knew this one would be great! It’s always fun to read about those sneaky bachelors and the women they seek to win!

Ruth Reid wrote a wonderful story… I totally loved Noah! What a sweetheart! I was relieved when Joy learned to stand up for herself and that her brother-in-law finally listened to her. I’m hoping this story is just the beginning of a series, because I can’t wait to read more!

I was amazed at how easily I went from story to story… nothing clashed; it was a delightful read and I’m hoping to find a few more to help me celebrate the coming holidays!

If you’re looking for a great Christmas read… pick up a copy of An Amish Second Christmas… it’s not too late!

Merry Christmas!

Blessings!

MY THOUGHTS:

When Christmas Comes Again is a sweet holiday story with the happily-ever-after ending readers love!

This story reminds us to never give up on those we love…

Katherine is concerned when she notices a strange man showing up whenever she’s in town, but it’s not long before a package is left on her porch for her – from him.

Mary Carol, Katherine’s daughter, has also encountered this strange man… and although she recognizes that there’s something very wrong with him, she befriends him. He offers Mary Carol and her beau Abe some sage advice. When Mary Carol urges Abe to act on the man’s advice, against his better judgment, it brings about some surprising results.

Let me make something clear – this is one of the BEST Christmas stories I have read!

Beth Wiseman is a talented, engaging writer. I have loved every book that I’ve read by Beth. This story – a Christmas novella – has more character, more action, more real-life drama – than many novels. Beth draws your attention at the start, and if you’re like me, you won’t stop reading until you’ve reached the end.

Surprisingly enough, even though I usually end a novella wishing for more, this story gave me such a perfect ending, I was “full”. The story doesn’t need more of anything.

It’s perfect.

If you’re looking for a great Christmas read… pick up a copy of An Amish Second Christmas… pick up a few extra for gifts — just in time for Christmas!

Her Christmas Pen Pal | Ruth Reid Marathon

Today I’m reviewing Her Christmas Pen Pal, by the fanciful Ruth Reid.

This novella can be found in An Amish Second Christmas – along with three others by Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller and Tricia Goyer.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Joy was expecting a wedding proposal from Henry; what she got instead was news of another woman.

But when her heartfelt letter to a cousin ends up in the hands of a young cabinetmaker, an unexpected correspondence between two strangers gets interesting fast.

I hope Her Christmas Pen Pal inspires a NEW series by Ruth Reid!Tweet this!

MY THOUGHTS:

I LOVED IT… LOVED IT… LOVED IT!

Her Christmas Pen Pal was such a great read… this is one story I will be reading year after year – and I really hope Ruth gets the chance to write more about this nice community and these wonderful characters!

From the very first page, Joy captured my attention, with the loss of her parents — to the apparent lack of feelings on Henry’s part… Henry, who she has been courting. After patiently waiting for him to propose, he seems to be moving farther away from her — and when he takes another girl home, Joy writes out her anguish — 10 pages worth — to her friend. Only the address is difficult to read and it’s delivered to a stranger!

Oh my! I can just imagine her embarrassment when she receives a reply!

Noah Esh is the young cabinetmaker who the letter (and a box of sweet treats) is delivered to by mistake — but after reading the letter, he feels compelled to write back.

OK, I guess you can tell that I enjoyed the book so much, its’ characters are real to me; so much so that I’d love to meet Joy — she sounds like a wonderfully sweet maedel. She deserves someone much better than Henry, who seems selfish to me.

Ruth writes a great story, but the community she creates and the characters are what makes this story unforgettable!

If you enjoy reading a fun, heart-warming story, you’ll LOVE Her Christmas Pen Pal

5-stars

Her Christmas Pen Pal is an amazing story of love, life and the nearly lost art of letter writing!Tweet this!
