Her Blue-Eyed Lieutenant | Linda Ellen

Today I am reviewing Her Blue-Eyed Lieutenant, the 3rd story in the Soldiers of Swing series by Linda Ellen.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Until now, Gary Tucker’s life had been one of privilege and wealth.

His long-lost brothers figured he’d had everything handed to him on a silver platter.

But he’d had struggles of a different kind—like the struggle to break free of Gareth B. Tucker, Sr.’s iron-fisted control—to be his own man.

No one really understood what it was like to be Gareth Tucker, Jr….no one that is, except Julie. Julie Banks was beautiful, wholesome, smart and funny—and his brother’s little sister.

Gene thought of her as just a kid—but Gary saw her as the woman of his dreams. Therein lay the problem. Were they destined to remain best friends, never taking their relationship farther than that?

Overshadowing all of this, however, was the War. More than anything, Gary wanted to join the conflict and fly bombers over Germany and Japan. Would he get the opportunity?

Could he find a way to become the man he knew he was called to be—and would the woman he loved be by his side when it was all said and done?

If you love stories about WWII and the “Greatest Generation” that read like you’re watching a classic movie, with handsome soldiers and beautiful girls-next-door, then Her Blue-Eyed Lieutenant is for you!

MY THOUGHTS:

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!

Historical novels are not usually my genre… but I can’t say enough about this wonderful series!

In this third story, Gene’s brother Gary joins the military. Julie Banks, Gene’s stepsister, finds herself attracted to Gary–but Gary is trying to do the right thing by keeping his distance. After all, she’s his brother’s kid sister, isn’t she?

Actually, this just might be my favorite story in the series…

I really hope you’ve already picked up a copy of these books. Take my advice; they’re best when you have time to read all three in a row. Now go get reading!

If you don’t have it yet, be sure to pick up a copy of Her Blue-Eyed Lieutenant today!

if you enjoy exciting romance, you’ll love this series. Especially since they’re clean reads!

Happy Reading!

God bless you!

Her Blue-Eyed Corporal | Linda Ellen

Today I am reviewing Her Blue-Eyed Corporal, the 2nd story in the Soldiers of Swing series by Linda Ellen.

Here is a brief synopsis:

He’d been kicked around for most of his life, but things were starting to change…

Corporal Steve Wheeler’s attitude had taken a turn for the better when he was reunited with the brothers he never knew – Gene Banks and Gary Tucker. He even met a girl that might turn out to be the one, that is–if he could tame his penchant for teasing and tormenting…

Mary June Harriman is Vivian Powell’s best friend, and as such, she is often thrown together with Viv’s fiancée’s wisecracking brother. But, just who is this man Steve Wheeler? Is he the hard-edged hooligan he pretends to be…or is he actually a romantic at heart, capable of sweeping her off her feet?

These two spit and spar, dancing around one another, whether it’s at the USO in downtown Louisville or stuck on double dates with their best friend and sibling. Will the two of them continue to rub one another the wrong way? Or will they find that underneath it all, they are actually attracted to each other. And what if fate steps in and turns everything upside down with an incident at the powder plant? Mary June could lose her corporal before they even get together!

If you love stories about WWII and the “Greatest Generation” that read like you’re watching a classic movie, with handsome soldiers and beautiful girls-next-door, then Her Blue-Eyed Corporal is for you!

MY THOUGHTS:

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!

Historical novels are not usually my genre… but I can’t say enough about this wonderful series!

In this second story, Gene and Vivian meet Gene’s brothers. When Steve meets someone special, he has to work hard to sweep her off her feet. Is this another story of love at first sight? Maybe; maybe not. But it certainly gets interesting, so pick up a copy of Her Blue-Eyed Corporal, hang on, and enjoy the ride!

if you enjoy exciting romance, you’ll love this series. Especially since they’re clean reads!

Happy Reading!

God bless you!

Her Blue-Eyed Sergeant | Linda Ellen

Today I am reviewing Her Blue-Eyed Sergeant, the 1st story in the Soldiers of Swing series by Linda Ellen.

Here is a brief synopsis:

He has his life all planned out – until one night at a dance at the USO in town, he meets her…

A secret blurted out in a moment of anger had turned Staff Sergeant Eugene Banks’ life upside down, but he moved on and made a good life for himself.

At the moment, he’s concentrating on solving a mystery he had stumbled onto at his job over the motor pool at Fort Knox.

Vivian Powell is contented with her life; she has family, friends, and a good job as a bank teller. Although she was nursing a broken heart, she has since moved forward and isn’t looking for love. At the urging of a friend, she decides to join the war effort by becoming a junior hostess at the local USO…

These two people meet one fateful night at a dance, and their lives are everlastingly changed. What follows is a beautiful courtship, while dodging the fact that she signed an agreement to be available every Saturday night to dance with dozens of soldiers, and in spite of two confusing mysteries that refuse to be solved.

Beautiful, that is, until Vivian catches Gene doing the very thing that he swore he would never do, and it nearly rips their romance in two!

If you love stories about WWII and the “Greatest Generation” that read like you’re watching a classic movie, with handsome soldiers and beautiful girls-next-door, then Her Blue-Eyed Sergeant is for you!

MY THOUGHTS:

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!

I give it 10 STARS!

Historical novels are not usually my genre… but I can’t say enough about this wonderful series!

Gene and Vivian meet quite by chance–or do they? Do you believe in love at first sight? Well, this story might not be just that, but… oh, dear. I can’t say much more without giving away too much. I can tell you that the characters are colorful, interesting, and unforgettable. And the confusing mysteries will most likely be unexpected, too. Just read it and see…

if you enjoy exciting romance, you’ll love this series. Especially since they’re clean reads!

Hurry! Run and pick up a copy of Her Blue-Eyed Sergeant and read the adventures of Gene and Vivian. Then read the rest of the series, too.

Happy Reading!

God bless you!

Almost As Much | Linda Ellen

Today I am reviewing Almost As Much, the 3rd story in The Cherished Memories series by Linda Ellen.

Here is a brief synopsis:

It’s now 1955…

Vic and Louise Matthews are living his Bold Venture and raising their family. Together with Louise’s son Tommy and their own two boys, along with Louise’s mother, Lilly, they have settled into a comfortable life.

With Vic working seven days a week to make his dream a success, they have realized Almost as Much happiness as they had hoped for, but Louise unexpectedly finds herself becoming frustrated and dissatisfied.

As problems between them grow, each one steadfastly searches for answers. Finally, in desperation, Louise makes a decision that sets in motion an event that will change the dynamic of their lives forever.

Follow this hard-working couple as they weather accidents, robberies, and misunderstandings – as well as joys, triumphs, and answered prayers. Will that magnificent love that began on a dark rainy night in 1937 truly prevail? And will the event that Louise longs for become a reality?

Heartfelt, delightful, riveting, and at times comical, Almost as Much is an inspirational tale awash in historical references, while thoroughly portraying the reality of a family striving to live the American dream in Louisville in the 1950’s.

MY THOUGHTS:

This is the final book in this wonderful series of how Linda Ellen’s parents met.

In this final story, Vic and Louise share their home with their children and Louise’s mother. Louise is happy that Vic is his own boss, but wishes he didn’t work such long hours. And she has a special wish… one that soon becomes an obsession.

Will Vic and Louise be able to overcome all the problems they face? I don’t want to reveal any spoilers, so I’ll let you read the story for yourself.

Pick up a copy of Almost as Much and find out!

Happy Reading!

The Bold Venture | Linda Ellen

Today I am reviewing The Bold Venture, the 2nd story in The Cherished Memories series by Linda Ellen.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Now it’s 1941…

The sweethearts, Vic Matthews and Louise Hoskins, are finally back together after their heartrending years apart – but problems loom that threaten to wreck their plans.

Steadfast, they are determined that their love will reign triumphant. Vic vows that he will do whatever it takes to provide a home for Louise and her son, but that resolution causes problems of its own when he makes a decision that could prove ruinous for everyone concerned.

Follow the valiant couple as they weather every disappointment and setback with courage and integrity – even in the midst of a world at war. Once they marry and start their life together, will it be happy ever after? And will the big break he longs, prays, and works toward ever come?

Heartfelt, romantic, humorous, and awash in delightful moments, The Bold Venture captures the power of true love and the mystique of what has been called the “Greatest Generation.”

MY THOUGHTS:

This is the second book in Linda Ellen’s series about how her parents met.

Where book one left off, book two picks up… with the story of Vic and Louise.

Vic does everything he can to make Louise happy. Even so, they have more than their share of difficulties to overcome. I’d love to tell you more, but it would ruin the story for you–and I can’t do that. So I’ll leave it for you to read it for yourself.

Pick up a copy of The Bold Venture today!

Happy Reading!

God bless you!

Once in a While | Linda Ellen

Today I am reviewing Once in a While, the 1st story in The Cherished Memories series by Linda Ellen.

Here is a brief synopsis:

In the tradition of The Notebook comes…Once in a While.

It’s 1937… Victor Matthews is a down on his luck young man, frustrated with his life and his inability to find gainful employment.

Louise Hoskins is a young woman content in her life with her family and friends. Her biggest concern is her upcoming lead part in a play.

One rainy night, they meet…and both are forever changed. Neither could foresee that the world as they know it is on the precipice of experiencing the now famous ’37 Flood, and that daily life is about to be transformed into a bone chilling waterlogged state of affairs.

But as that harrowing experience fades and their lives return to normal, the two young lovers embark on an unforgettable courtship – that is, until a terrible argument and a tragic misunderstanding tear them apart.

How will they survive the separation? And why does one special song have the power to instantly transport the sweethearts back into the realm of cherished memories?

MY THOUGHTS:

This is the story of how the author’s parents met.

It was quite interesting to read about Vic Matthews and Louise Hoskins… and it teaches us all that honesty is always the best way. Lies cannot be hid away forever–and can have terrible consequences!

The story begins in the present time, but soon Louise takes the reader into her past, to a time when she was a young girl. I have no idea how much of the story is real and how much is embellishment, but it makes for a very interesting story. Poor Louise goes through so much difficulty until she is finally re-united with her true love.

if your interest is peaked, pick up a copy of Once In a While and read the adventures of Vic and Louise. Then read the rest of the series, too.

Happy Reading!

God bless you!
