Today I am reviewing Flood Zone, the third and final book in the Stormswept series by Dana Mentink.

Here is a brief synopsis:

PRIME SUSPECT…

Mia Sandoval’s friend is murdered under mysterious circumstances — and the single mother is a suspect. Her only ally is a man she isn’t sure she can trust.

Search and rescue worker Dallas Black has a past as harrowing as Mia’s own, and the police are suspicious of them both.

With no choice but to work with secretive Dallas, Mia discovers he’s as complicated as the murder they’re forced to investigate to clear her name.

Yet as a flood ravages their small Colorado town, a killer is determined that Mia, Dallas and their evidence get swept away to a watery grave.

 
 
MY THOUGHTS:

In the first book of this series, ex-soldier Trey Black is reunited with Sage Harrington — a journalist he met in Afghanistan when she was on assignment there. Although she suffers from PTSD, Sage is determined to find her missing cousin — Antonia Verde — and Trey is determined to protect Sage.

In the second book of the series, Antonia (Verde) is reunited with Reuben Sandoval — once the love of her life. After he saves her from drowning, he discovers there are killers on the island… are they after him… or Antonia? Even when a tropical storm hits, Reuben is determined to keep Antonia safe.

Whew… exciting stories!

In this third — and final — book of the series, Antonia’s sister Mia Sandoval is a suspect when her friend is murdered. Dallas Black, who Antonia and Reuben hired to watch over Mia, is doing whatever he can, but things are getting out of hand – fast!

Of course, people are not always who they appear to be… Dana Mentink excels at creating complex, interesting characters – and she does a superb job in the Stormswept series! I have to admit, a few times I doubted those who were good guys and were deceived by a few who were not-so-good.

And I really can’t reveal anything, so when you read it, you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. Believe me, when you get to the end, you’ll either be tickled to have been right – or amazed that you were caught up enough to be surprised.

Either way, it’s a great read!
